Bridget Jones returns in the new film ‘Mad About The Boy,’ with Renée Zellweger reprising her role. Characteristic of humor and imperfections, this character has continually managed to live up to the expectations of the viewers. Michael Morris pointed out very human aspects of Bridget for which she does not apologize. Author Helen Fielding believes the secret is in the gap that Bridget symbolizes between expectations and reality. Newer characters are introduced in this movie, but familiar characters return. Cultural analysts point to the way in which Bridget introduced feminist discussion within these complex, though inhibiting, notions of a prosperous modern woman. Time may have changed, but one finds the spirit of Bridget rivetingly alive, still inspiring the character.
